In case you have acquired your Dubai based job from abroad, it is customary for the employer to arrange for all the formalities like work and residence permits. Should you come to Dubai at a venture, then you will receive a visa on arrival at the airport. This visa has a validity of one month. You can extend your visa for a maximum of one more month, at a price of 610 Dirham. Beyond that, you need to have found a job or, unfortunately, take the plane home again.
When you do have a job lined up for you, your new employer is obliged to grant you a work permit. For the application of a residence and work permit, you will need a passport with at least five blank pages. Also, you should have ten passport photo's ready. The employer will oftentimes engage a PRO (Public Relations Officer) for the application of visa and permits. Should there be no PRO available and are you expected to do your own applications, your De Haan Relocation consultants will happily assist you in the process.
Married?
If you are married and wishing for your wife and children to join you in Dubai, then you have to make a minimum of 4.000 Dirham p/m (without housing allowance) or 3.000 Dirham p/m (with housing allowance) to be able to sponsor your family. Vice versa is not possible. Married women who have obtained a work permit through their employer will not be issued residence permits for their husbands (with the exception of doctors, nurses and teachers).
Wives that are being sponsored by their husbands are not allowed to hold a job in Dubai, unless she finds a job with an independent work permit. Unfortunately, part time jobs are hard to come by in Dubai.
