It is very common to have a domestic helper in the Middle East. Ladies from Sri Lanka or the Philippines are available to work as your
cleaner, babysitter and/or cook. Employing a domestic helper full time is an option, as well as part time or live-in. Most houses provide
living quarters for domestic helpers; usually they contain a maid’s room equipped with a separate bathroom and toilet.
De Haan relocation consultants can guide you through the selection process for a housemaid, gardener or handyman. Part of the responsibilities of
employing a domestic helper, is the fact that you have to sponsor your maid. This means you carry legal responsibility for her during her stay in
the United Arab Emirates. This will cost you about 10.000 dirham for a two-year visa (health care not included). Also, you need to provide for one
return ticket to the homeland for every two years of service. And you will have to pay a basic salary, and, in case of a live-in situation, provide
room and board for your helper. There are several companies in Dubai providing domestic helpers on a part time basis.
